Itinerary

Day 1 – Moshi

The tour will begin at any time when the hikers arrive at the Moshi. Exploration is allowed around the area as long as you get back in time to meet the group.

Day 2 – Moshi to Simba Camp

On the second day of the trip, the journey on a private vehicle will continue to the less visited slope. Following the path from the farmland from village of Nalemoru, then through the pine forest where the Colobus monkeys in the area with their long hair that looks like a cape thrives. Camping at night at Simba will offer a great and wide view of the plains of Kenya.

Day 3 – Simba Camp to Kikelewa Camp

On the morning of the third day, there will be a steady ascent at approximately 8 kilometers from the Kikelewa camp. Lunch will be taken in the second cave with views of Kibo and Eastern ice fields. Then, about 3-5 hours hike will continue to the moorland off the main trail towards the peak of Mawenzi. At night time, camping will be at the sheltered valley of the Kikewela Camp.

Day 4 – Kikelelwa Camp to Mawenzi Tarn Camp

This adventure day starts through ascending to the grassy slopes, which then again, offers majestic views. You can take a rest or explore around the camp to acclimatize.

Day 5 – Mawenzi Tarn Camp to Kibo camp

This is a 5 to 6 hour slow hike through the famous “saddle” in between the Mawenzi and Kibo peaks of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Day 6 – Kibo Camp to Horombo Camp

This is a 10 to 15 hour night hike up to the Summit through the Gilman’s Point. You can take a rest at the Gilman’s point, which is the crater rim. This is where the beauty of the sunrise will show before descending to the Horombo Huts Camp. This is where you may take the well-deserved rest during the last night on the mountain

Day 7 – Horombo Camp to Marangu

On the seventh day, there will be continuation of the descent through the moorland to Manadara Hut. This is the first stopping place. Then, down to the lovely lush forest, which leads to the National Park gate at Marangu

Day 8 – Moshi
