Enjoy a pleasurable ride into the Namibian desert with numerous fascinating sights to see. The fauna and flora of the desert, rough terrain driving on the sand, lunch consisting of finger snacks, sparkly wine and shellfish. This Sandwich Harbor outing is an absolute necessity!
What you’ll see
Your day begins after meeting at the Walvis Bay waterfront at 7:30. After a short briefing you’ll head off to Sandwich Harbor. Along the way we will have a stop at the Walvis Bay lagoon- a RAMSAR site which during the rainy season is home to approximately 250 000 flamingos. At that point we’ll have another stop at the Walvis Bay Salt Refinery where you’ll find out more about the production of the salt that occurs there. Afterwards we will head into the Namib desert. On route we stop to search for some local wild life and from there we move onto Sandwich Harbor. In the event that the weather is permitting you’ll have a lunch at Sandwich Lagoon consisting of fresh Namibian oysters, some finger snacks, sparkly wine and a local beer. After lunch you’ll head back to the waterfront and search for more natural life on course. Finish up your visit back in Walvis Bay.
