Description

Where You’ll Go

Malawi is known as one of Africa’s poorest countries but for anyone who visits this beautiful landscape dominated by a spectacular lake, it becomes obvious that it is also one of the most friendliest.

Not far past Livingstonia and in the midst of an epic hill climb, you will find a tiny and unassuming village with a neat little experience to break up the journey. This short day tour in Malawi can be best described as a village experience and with a small donation requested, you can find a genuinely authentic encounter with some friendly locals.

What You’ll See

Step inside a locals home and listen to stories about their village, see the magical musical instruments and work tools which have been passed down for generations. Experience the unique prayer and locals worshipping spirits in their home before visiting a truly unique man made bridge, constructed mostly using vines and tree branches.

This bridge has allowed locals to cross the nearby river for centuries, avoiding the ominous waters below in which they could not swim, for either the lack of know-how it presence of hippos.

When You’ll Go

Best visited from either mzuzu day tour or while travelling from chitimba to mzuzu.

Your Guide

Your lead guide is an experience tour guide in Nkhata Bay and enthusiastic volunteer leader named Philip. You can be sure of much information and friendly interactions with this reliable and well respected young man.

What’s included

Village meal can be organized for extra but essentially this tour will include a short visit to the bridge, a locals home and an explanation of the many musical instruments and tools that were passed down by ancestors.
